Vancouver Custom Carpentry
We are based in Vancouver and build most of our work for homes across the city — character houses on the west side, apartments downtown, and the renovations in between.
Building in Vancouver
Vancouver's housing stock splits sharply. West of Main you are often working in houses built before 1940, with plaster over lath, high baseboards, picture rails, and rooms that have moved enough over a century that almost nothing is square. Cabinetry and built-ins for those houses have to be scribed generously and detailed to match trim profiles that are no longer manufactured.
Downtown and in Yaletown the constraints are different. Concrete walls and ceilings change how anything is fixed, converted warehouse lofts have ceiling heights that make standard cabinetry look stranded, and strata buildings set the working hours and the elevator bookings. We plan those logistics before install day rather than discovering them on it.
Why Vancouver clients call
- Their house is old enough that stock cabinetry will not fit it.
- They want new joinery to match original trim and detailing.
- Their building is concrete or strata-managed and needs planning.
- They want one material carried through several rooms.

Vancouver Neighbourhoods We Work In
Building age and construction type change considerably from one part of the city to the next.
How a Vancouver Project Runs
Every project runs through the same four stages, with the site visit adjusted to the building — a character house needs different measurements than a concrete tower.
Consult
We visit, measure, and talk through how the space is used and what has never worked about it.
Design
You approve drawings and a material specification before anything is built.
Build
Cabinetry and millwork are made and finished in our shop.
Install
We fit and scribe on site, working around building access rules where they apply.
Vancouver FAQs
Do you work throughout Vancouver?
Yes — across the west side, downtown, and East Vancouver. If you are outside the city, our Lower Mainland location pages cover the surrounding municipalities.
Can you work in a strata building?
Yes. Tell us the building early so we can plan around permitted work hours, elevator bookings, and any move-in requirements the strata sets.
Can you match trim in a character house?
Usually. We take a profile from existing casing or baseboard and mill to match, so new joinery reads as part of the original house.
Do you work from an architect's drawings?
Yes, and we will flag anything difficult to execute cleanly before it becomes a problem on site.
